Trusted Source of Printed Waterproof Adirondack Rail Trail Maps
We believe that printed waterproof maps are more reliable. The advantages of our Adirondack Rail Trail map is that it is a true recreation map showing not only the rail trail but the adjacent canoe routes, hiking trails and campsites. There are detail maps for each of the trail towns, showing cycle friendly businesses and overnight accommodations. Stop into purchase a Rail Trail Map or call 518.637.2358 to order.
Rail Trail Press is a Saranac Lake-based company dedicated to providing up to date information for rail trail users. We are based at Floodwood Outpost, a waypoint on the Adirondack Rail Trail that promotes and services human powered use of the trail. We publish printed rail trail maps that provide concise info to inspire you to come bike the trail and to explore the surrounding area.
Carry a small pack at least with the basics of wind shell, rain gear, a fleece, lightweight helmet liner and gloves for all but the best of days. Your day can change quickly & you are out here to enjoy yourself! Remember to carry water, as you will pass numerous lakes but “… not a drop to drink”.
Bikes should yield to walkers, runners and pedestrians. Cross-road traffic does not stop. Bikes should be walked when crossing. If your pet is with you immediately clean up (and carry out) after your friend. When places get busy, be kind!
Respect slower users by slowing down----a simple “on your Left” helps. If operating an electric bike, it’s especially important to slow down---a simple wave of recognition shows respect. Carry a bell or horn to alert others that you are passing.
Travel to the Right—both individuals and groups. Ride single file when people are coming other direction.
Show respect and responsibility. Practice the 7 Principals to assure that you leave the trail in as good or better than you found it. See details at: https://lnt.org/why/7-principles/
Finally, it is a sometimes a good distance to the next town—travel prepared with first aid & basic bike repair stuff. Parts of the trail are remote---do not rely on a cell phone signal.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit during normal business hours: 10 am - 4 pm Wednesday to Sunday.
